Here is what each size in this rug is best suited to.

  • 80 cm round 2.6 ft across Entryway, bedside, or under a small accent table
  • 100 cm round 3.3 ft across Reading nook, nursery, or beside the bed
  • 120 cm round 4 ft across Round dining table for two to four, bedroom accent
  • 140 cm round 4.6 ft across Living room seating, round dining for four
  • 160 cm round 5.25 ft across Round dining for four to six, generous living room accent

Getting the placement right

  • Living room — at minimum, the front legs of your sofa should rest on the rug. The rug should be at least as wide as the sofa.
  • Bedroom — allow 18–24 in (45–60 cm) of rug on each side of the bed so your feet land on wool, not floor.
  • Dining room — the rug needs to extend 24 in (60 cm) past every edge of the table so chairs stay on it when pulled out.
  • Any room — leave 8–18 in (20–45 cm) of bare floor between the rug and the walls. A rug that runs wall to wall makes a room feel smaller.

Before you order: mark the size out on your floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day. It is the quickest way to be certain, and it costs nothing.

Care & Cleaning

  • Not machine washable. Jute is a natural plant fibre — soaking makes it stiffen, discolour, and weaken.
  • Spot clean with a dry cloth, or one barely damp, and dry the area immediately.
  • Vacuum regularly without the beater bar. Smaller sizes can be shaken out.
  • Rotate every few months for even wear, and keep out of persistent damp.
