Getting the placement right

  • Living room — at minimum, the front legs of your sofa should rest on the rug. The rug should be at least as wide as the sofa.
  • Bedroom — allow 18–24 in (45–60 cm) of rug on each side of the bed so your feet land on wool, not floor.
  • Dining room — the rug needs to extend 24 in (60 cm) past every edge of the table so chairs stay on it when pulled out.
  • Any room — leave 8–18 in (20–45 cm) of bare floor between the rug and the walls. A rug that runs wall to wall makes a room feel smaller.

Before you order: mark the size out on your floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day. It is the quickest way to be certain, and it costs nothing.

Defined by a striking concentric rectangular motif, this piece from the Braided Chindi collection delivers strong visual depth through contrasting tones. The design alternates between rich black and crisp ivory bands with an organic, distressed line quality. Hand-braided from 100% cotton, the flatweave construction incorporates recycled materials into a durable, tightly woven structure. Its ribbed surface offers a tactile, textured feel underfoot while maintaining a clean, low profile. Generously sized at 370 cm x 275 cm, this rectangular rug creates an anchor for spacious living rooms and executive home offices. Position it beneath an open-plan seating arrangement or a substantial wooden desk to ground the space with graphic contrast. The monochrome palette pairs effortlessly with minimalist monochrome furnishings, light oak or dark walnut finishes, and industrial metal accents, fitting smoothly into modern, eclectic, or transitional interior settings.
